Cookie Policy

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. This site uses very few of them, they are all listed below by name, and everything except the strictly necessary ones stays off until you turn it on.
1. Your choice
When you first arrive, a banner offers three options: Accept all, Reject all, or Cookie settings, where analytics and marketing can be switched on or off individually. Rejecting everything leaves the site fully working — nothing on tidalveranda.com is behind a cookie wall.
Your choice is itself remembered in a cookie, because there is no other way to stop asking you. To change it: clear this site's data in your browser and reload the page, and the banner will appear again.
2. Strictly necessary
These are set without asking, because the site cannot do its job without them. They contain no advertising identifiers and are not shared with anyone.

The first two are stored in your browser's local storage rather than as true cookies. We list them here anyway, because the distinction matters to engineers and not to anybody else.
3. Analytics — off unless you allow it

Analytics tell us that the rooms page is read more than the events page and that most people arrive on a phone. They are not used to build a profile of you, and the data is not sold or shared.
4. Marketing — off unless you allow it

We do not run advertising aimed at people under 20, and we do not use gambling imagery in any advertising placed off this website.
5. Third parties
Two things on this site are loaded from elsewhere:
- Google Fonts — the two typefaces this site is set in. Requesting a font sends your IP address to Google. No cookie is set by it.
- Map links — the "open directions" button hands you to your own maps application. Nothing is loaded from a mapping service until you press it.
There are no advertising pixels, no social media trackers, no session recording, and no heat mapping on this site.
6. Managing cookies in your browser
Every browser lets you see, block and delete cookies. The controls are usually under Settings → Privacy. Blocking everything on every site tends to break shopping carts and logins elsewhere; blocking everything on this one costs you nothing.
